Will Ross here, welcome to The Traveling Avatar’s Quick and Dirty Tips for a Better Second Life. On this show we discuss tips and tricks for the game Second Life, created by Linden Labs.
Today’s Episode, Branching Out Number 2: Even MORE Podcasts About Second Life
But first...
Do you Spend Hours Traveling to Meetings? Do you spend more time traveling to meetings than you actually do meeting? Is that really productive? There IS an easier and more affordable way - Go To Meeting - the award-winning service that lets you hold meetings over the internet with people in multiple locations.
So here's how it works. Just log on to GoToMeeting.com and start meetings with a click! From there, everyone sees your computer desktop on their computer screen. Second Life based businesses will find this especially helpful, since you can show your clients what you're up to, instead of just describing it for them in text. It's like meeting in person - but less expensive and less time-consuming.
Meet from your office, home, hotel room... anywhere, anytime.. And you can hold as many meetings as you need to for just one flat rate. Try GoToMeeting today for FREE for 45 Days. Just visit GoToMeeting.com/podcast. That's GoToMeeting.com/podcast. Do more and travel less with GoToMeeting!
It's ok, really. I understand that our relationship is important to you, and yet you find yourself wanting more. You're still young, you have a lot of listening you want to do, and though you love our five to ten minutes a week together, you want to see other podcasts. Well, lucky for you I'm a progressive, modern guy, and I'm completely comfortable if you want to explore other shows. In fact, just between us, I've been listening to a few myself. I know, scandalous, right? Today on the show, we can share a couple more of my favorite Second-Life-related podcasts.
The first show I'm going to talk about is Second Life Under the Radar, hosted by Radar Masukami. (Clip) Second Life Under the Radar is one of those podcasts that's difficult to describe because it runs from op-ed style opinion show, to panel discussion, to soundseeing tours where he and his friends explore sims together and discuss what's happening live. Radar and his guests talk about their adventures, as well as current goings on in world, but what really appeals to me is Radar's rants.
Radar speaks his mind not only regarding the game designers, which, lets face it, anyone can do, but also about people he knows and other in-world personalities. I've noticed that many Second Life podcasts I've listened to pull their punches unless they're talking about Linden Labs, so the way Radar says whatever is on his mind (sometimes dealing with the consequences later) is refreshing and makes for a great listen.
You can check out Second Life Under the Radar at http://slundertheradar.com/ (all one word). I guarantee it's worth your listening time.
The second show is more of a group effort. It's called the Podmafia Podcast, and though I have yet to find an episode where Joe Pesci puts a guy's head in a vice, it's a lot of fun to listen to. (Clip) It's hosted by Second Lifers Gomen Desoto, better known as DJ Gomen in world, Stuart Warf, a fantastic Second Life builder, and Yxes Delacroix, formerly of The Goddess and Banana podcast. All of them are long-time Second Lifers who deal in very different parts of the in-world community, giving the show multiple points of view on different happenings in game.
For some reason these "verbal jam session" podcasts, where a group of people sit around together and jaw about Second Life have been very appealing to me lately. Podmafia Podcast has just this sort of "gang of friends hanging out at a bar" feel to it, with the three of them cracking jokes, making observations, and just having a generally good time together. You can tell that they really enjoy working together and sometimes just that energy is enough to make what might otherwise be a dull topic interesting.
You can check out the Podmafia Podcast at http://podmafia.com/. It's a lot of fun and I promise it won't get you into trouble with La Cosa Nostra.
So to wrap up, if you've got a Second Life podcast you listen to, or one of your very own, feel free to drop me an e-mail or voicemail and let me know. Or, just to tell me how your feeling. Or read to me from your newspaper. Seriously, it's lonely living here inside your speakers. And, you really need to stop playing those Fergie albums all the time, they make you sterile.

So until next time remember, I'm not the only Second Life podcast out there, I'm just the only one that guarantees wealth and womens to all listeners. Disclaimer, the Quick and Dirty Tips network does not actually promise wealth or womens for listening. Grammar Girl strongly disapproves of using the term "womens" as a noun, which in addition to being derogatory and sexist is a convoluted attempt to make a plural of a plural. Women apostrophe S, however, is still OK -- as a word, but not in the context of a guarantee.
